This past Wednesday (November 26th) local historian, musician, and occasional war-time foreign correspondent Aaron Chapman held a launch party for this new book, Live at the Commodore: The Story of Vancouver’s Historic Commodore Ballroom.

The book is published by Arsenal Pulp Press and is available in local bookstores and occasionally through Amazon.ca. It is a fabulous read of the history one of Vancouver’s true musical gems and is filled with hundreds of images and entertaining stories.

The launch included a reading from Aaron Chapman, the chance to have your copy of the book signed by the author, and a series of musical guests which included The Jazzmanian Devils, Hard Rock Miners, Town Pants, and special appearances by Sarah Wheeler, Colleen Rennison, Vanessa Richards, Shelley Grace Preston, and Denis Mills. There were also speeches by an assortment of City Counselors, Former staff members, and a commemorative plaque presentation from the Vancouver Heritage Foundation. In short, it was an evening not to be missed.

However, in case you DID miss the evening and/or would like a review, here is a retrospective of the evening’s festivities.
